A Little About 1Time Flights

The airline was initiated by a former employee of Kulula.com airline, Glenn Orsmond. Its founders owned an aviation holding company, Afrisource Holdings, through which they owned Aeronexus. Aeronexus is an aviation company that offered various aircraft services and currently they perform maintenance for 1time. In other words, unlike Mango airlines, 1time is a privately owned and funded company.

1Time Baggage Information

If you’re flying with 1time, you can look forward to a comfortable flight that won’t break the bank – but what can you take on board? You may have a few questions about the 1time baggage rules, most of which are very straight forward like the airline itself. To ensure that you have a hassle-free travel experience, we have provided a quick guide to 1time baggage policy.

1time Flights

1Time Airlines are a low-cost domestic carrier, along with Mango and Kulula. Its name is truly South African – referring to the local expression “one time”, which means “for real”. Although they do not have shocking orange or green aircraft like the competitors, they are recognisable by their bright red fleet of aeroplanes.

1Time’s marketing was initially aimed at leisure passengers, but they are now expanding their focus to include the corporate market by offering a ‘no-frills’ service to this previously untapped market. Apart from low air fares, 1time flights can be ticketless air travel through their internet bookings system. They also have the policy that low fares are never subject to availability or restrictions - in other words, low fares are advertised and charged ‘as is’ for every seat, on every flight at any time of every day. They also promise that their services are not compromised due to lower prices.  Like Mango and Kulula, they serve no complementary meals on board, but do sell food and beverages to interested passengers. Their in-flight magazine is called ‘AbouTime’.

As 1time is a private airline, they have also ventured into partnerships in order to supplement their income. The airline has a car hire partnership with Avis and a South African Accommodation agreement with the City Lodge Group. These companies offer discounted rates on 1time’s website, for passengers travelling and flying with the airline. 1Time also sells travel insurance with their flights, which is underwritten by AIG Travel Insurance.

With the range of services offered on their website and the low cost airfares, 1time lives up to its slogan “more nice, less price.”
